Purpose of Role To source, target and win new business for Key Forensic Services Ltd.

Role Summary To identify, qualify and build solid, high-level relationships with new business prospects in order to promote and sell the company’s portfolio of products and services and meet financial targets.

Duties & Responsibilities
To actively and professionally manage the entire sales cycle from lead generation and lead management to prospecting, arranging appointments, preparing proposals and presentations, negotiating, closing and handing over new accounts to the account management team.

To effectively meet (and exceed) pre-defined sales targets.
To ensure that all sales opportunities are fully captured and fully explored.
To build, manage and maintain a substantial pipeline and to ensure that all pipeline activity is accurately documented and kept up-to-date in the KFS CRM system.
To provide timely response and exceptional levels of service to all enquiries.
To create polished proposals, presentations, contracts and other documentation.
To respond to tenders, Requests For Proposals (RFPs) and other requests for information in a timely and organised manner.
To attend meetings with prospects as required.
To ensure knowledge is kept up to date and relevant by networking/researching/reading blogs and news sources.
To represent KFS at industry events when required and to represent the company and its products and services at all times in a professional and knowledgeable manner.

Terms & Conditions
Salary circa £35,000-£40,000 dependent upon experience
Hours – 37 per week

Job Title Forensic Scientist – Chemistry
Location Coventry
Salary dependant upon experience


Duties and Responsibilities
The S & R Forensic Scientist will examine items from crime scenes to identify, recover, compare and analyses evidence relating to Footwear and particulates.  They will report to a designated Reporting Manager.

The role holder will be expected to:

General
Work as part of a small team with individual responsibilities and support the reporting managers in developing the search and recovery service.
Ensure integrity of items and samples.
Be aware of other evidence types that may be present.
Make contemporaneous examination notes and diagrams as appropriate.  Create and keep accurate records of all work undertaken, update case files and input data to casework management system.
Take digital photographs and maintain library of digital images.
Document movement of items and storage of retained materials.  Repackage items appropriately and return to customer.  Destruction of items where appropriate.
Ensure the following quality standards and strict methods are adhered to at all times
ISO 17025
KFS Quality management procedures
Health and safety procedures
Work according to relevant Health and safety requirements, including risk and COSHH assessments.
Communicate with team members at all levels. 
Liaise closely with Reporting Managers regarding staged examinations and critical findings.
Attend court and give evidence where necessary.
Search larger items such as vehicles and crime scenes off-site and attend crime scenes with Reporting Managers.
Help introduce new, more efficient procedures, be willing to deliver training and lead a group of forensic staff as the company expands.
Carry out validation studies and research and development as required.
Keep up to date with current relevant technological and scientific issues.
Attend appropriate training courses and conferences as required. (Travelling to other sites  or courses may be required)
Maintain up-to-date personal training records and competencies as required.  Attend appropriate training courses and conferences as required.  

Paint
Carryout examinations of casework items for the presence of paint – either applied wet, impacted or flakes.
Successfully recover any debris, search debris & recover paint flakes where appropriate.
Examination and preparation of control samples for comparison.
Mount recovered & control paint samples for comparison using low power and high power microscopy.
Carry out appropriate comparison of paint samples as outlined by RM instructions.
Carry out FTIR analysis of paint samples. (once trained)
Preparation of paint samples for analysis using the SEM when required.
Carry our SEM analysis of paint samples. (once trained)


Particulates
Adhere to the appropriate anti-contamination procedures.
Carryout examinations of casework items for the presence of particulates and successfully recover any debris.
Search debris and recover glass fragments were appropriate.
Ability to operate the GRIM appropriately.
Preparation of glass samples for analysis using the GRIM.
Carry out appropriate refractive index measurements as outlined by the RM instructions.
Examination and preparation of control samples.
Annealing of glass fragments.
Preparation of glass fragments for analysis using the SEM.
Ability to operate the SEM appropriately and carry out quantitative analysis of glass fragments.

Footwear
Carry out factual comparisons of footwear impressions recovered from crime scenes with footwear items seized from suspects.
Prepare test impressions suitable for comparison and inclusion in the laboratory reference collection.
Where necessary carry out enhancement of scene impressions using an appropriate technique.
In particular, be able to carry out gel lifting and ESLA lifting correctly.
Prepare accurate and appropriate notes of footwear and scene marks
Understand difference between evidential and screening work, and impact on note-taking etc.
Show awareness of factors affecting integrity of scene marks
Awareness of contamination issues with other evidence types.
Carry out evidential photography of scene marks as requested by case RM
Understand issues affecting effectiveness of photographic enhancement
Show appropriate management of time and resources in relation to evidential photography.

Minimum Qualification/Entry Requirements: 
A degree in a scientific discipline is required

Job Title       Reporting Manager – Footwear (2 positions)

The Role 

  • To assess footwear cases, taking into account other evidence types;
  • Prepare a case strategy, liaising with customers as required;
  • Examine and compare suspects’ footwear and footwear impressions from scenes of crime;
  • Search and recover trace evidence from footwear and other items seized during criminal investigations;
  • Interpret  and prepare reports and statements for Court purposes;
  • Carry out independent critical findings checks and case file reviews;
  • Be familiar with the relevant standards, guidelines and court rulings;
  • Be flexible and able to adapt to fluctuating work loads and urgent cases;
  • Work safely within a chemical laboratory environment, adhering to good laboratory practice and anti-contamination protocols

The Person
We are looking for an experienced Court Reporting Scientist who can demonstrate a history of preparing evidential statements relating to the comparison of footwear marks and giving expert testimony in court. The successful candidate will be familiar with a range of evidence types and, ideally, expert in more than one area.
As a highly motivated team player, who approaches work with a positive attitude, you will be used to accepting a high level of responsibility for your work. You will be organised but flexible, managing your own caseload while supporting a busy team. You will be able to work effectively while under pressure, applying your excellent communication skills and a customer-focussed approach to case management.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of honesty, integrity and a strong work ethic, who can show they have commitment to the team, the company and the criminal justice system.

Education
You will be educated to at least degree level in a scientific discipline.

 Position Experienced Crime Scene Biologist
Department Biology
Reports to Head of Operations
Location Norwich

Purpose of Role
To attend scenes of crime pertaining to major crime incidents and carry out the interpretation of blood patterns and other biological evidence.  To assist Crime Scene Managers and Senior Investigating Officers in the formulation of an appropriate forensic strategy for the recovery of scientific evidence and the examination of exhibits submitted to the laboratory; to interpret and report the scientific findings to the Criminal Justice System.

Role Summary
A senior Reporting Manager role, working closely with the wider Biology team and collaboratively with other departments in order to sustain productive working relationships. Your priorities will be to deliver departmental excellence and efficiency driven by the ever increasing demands of the business and our customers, with strong emphasis on continuous improvement.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Participate in the biology on-all scene attendance rota
To attend crime scenes, interpret biological evidence in situ and advise customers on scene examination, the recovery of scientific evidence and the forensic strategy for processing laboratory submissions
Manage a small team of biology Reporting Managers to assure their continued professional development in line with business requirements
Manage your own resources including a personal case load, taking responsibility for your own continued professional development.
• Determine the forensic examination to be undertaken both at the crime scene and in the laboratory
• Undertake the technical examination of exhibits for biological evidence, taking appropriate precautions for the preservation of non-biological evidence
• Assign meaningful conclusions to forensic findings
• Prepare written reports regarding forensic submissions
• Provide expert evidence to courts
Carry out training and mentoring of other scientists
