The search and recovery of submissions for DNA profiling and where appropriate other mixed evidence types. DNA profiling of casework submissions and where appropriate comparison and inclusion onto the National DNA Database®. This work is carried out by our sister company Forensic DNA Services limited.
Document examination, handwriting and signature comparisons, paper and ink comparisons, indented impressions and the detection of additions/alterations for counterfeit casework. This work is carried out by our Document Evidence division.
Screening of footwear marks from a scene to determine their likely evidential value and the screening and detailed evidential comparison, including photography of one pair of footwear with all marks lifted from a scene.
The determination of weight, identification and purity of drugs and the examination of items recovered from a crime scene for drug traces.
Forensic firearms training and awareness, specialist scientific and technical advice, expert testimony, examination and classification of weapons and/or ammunition, comparison of crime scene material to determine the origin of the weapon used and attendance at crime scenes to maximise the potential of the forensic evidence present.
Gunshot residue examination takes place in a separate location to the firearms service facility, thereby eliminating any chance of contamination. Examination includes the search, recovery and analysis of gunshot residue from either kits or submitted items for intelligence and evidential purposes.
